JILL HUDSON
Proprietor of Fairmead Creative Writing
Jill was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire where she lived until her family moved to neighbouring Berkshire when she was 15. She lived in Surrey for the first 3 years of her marriage before she and her husband bought a gift shop in Barmouth, North Wales at an auction whilst on holiday.
After 7 years they opened a Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agency to use their qualifications – he as a Chartered Surveyor and she as a secretary.
They raised their 4 children in the beautiful surroundings of Barmouth.
After the marriage ended Jill moved to Shrewsbury in Shropshire and then on to Birmingham, where she spent 18 years working for Birmingham City Council.
She now lives in Edinburgh, close to her daughter.
Jill has been writing poetry as a hobby for many years. Her style is zany, approachable to all and sums up many of life’s quirky little moments.
Inspired by her late father, who wrote the Mr Noodle series of children’s books for her brother and herself, she has had these stories illustrated and self-published.
Her father and mother also wrote an upbeat musical play, “Edward, Old Man” about the Teddy Boys and their unlikely association with the aristocracy in 1950s London. The songs in it are a delight.
